These are the first three pages of my book. I made a title page that will go under my leather cover and it has a water mark type of thing that is behind the title. It is fire. I think it gives it a little something extra. Then it is the tools that you need and then a model of the fire making machine. I think it works pretty well. The only thing I might change is to lighten the sketches

We created the business card, by making a 2x2 square so that it represented the square cake boxes she uses, and also, it is the same shape as our brochure. The only info that she gave us was her website and email address, so I included those, and also her title...."cake guru". She didnt deem herself that, but i thought it had a nice ring, and gave the card a little something extra. The negative space on the square is created using a blown up part of the logo. It adds a little to the card without making it too busy.
First we started by getting into our groups and trying to decide what the style of the identity should be. We wanted it to be fun and funky, because those were the words she used to describe what she was looking for. Then we didnt get far, so the next time we talked as a group, we decided on a logo, and designed the one that you see here. Sorry is baby sized, but its pretty cute and fun. It represents her cakes, without actually showing a cake. There is the bow-like topper that she frequently uses in her design. We put that on top of our text so that it sort of resembled a cake without actually being one.
I vote that its pretty successful!!!

for my original thoughts for this newsletter...i had nothing. i literally sat here and was like ok...what can i do to look busy so that i dont have to actually think of an idea...and i resorted to oh look theres a fuzzy green book, lets check that out. so, after some playing around in indesign i managed to create a gridlike pattern and i was originally going with the idea of the squares being like people or a neighborhood type of thing, and instead they sort of turned into the motivation for my entire project. i may have gone a little bit overboard with it, but i took it as far as i could...maybe if necessary ill take it back a couple of steps.

i pushed something that changed the font...and im tired and ready to go. soo i dont know how to fix it. but here is the last page of my letter. i feel like despite the randomness of all of the pages, there is definitely a format i tried to follow. i tried to align everything with another something and the colors are supposed to sort of reflect each other. towards the final point of my exhaustion things may have gotten a little off. oops. i might have to revisit this one.
